School Houses

House Teams at Thorner C of E Primary School

At Thorner C of E Primary School, we operate a House Team system that promotes teamwork, healthy competition, and a strong sense of belonging across the whole school community.

There are four House Teams, each represented by a colour:

  • Lacy – Red House

  • Ryther – Blue House

  • Franks – Green House

  • Saville – Yellow House

Each child is assigned to a House Team when they start their journey at Thorner. Wherever possible, children are placed in the same House as their older siblings to continue the family connection.

How the House System Works

Throughout the year, a wide range of whole-school events are organised around the House Teams, including:

  • Sports Day

  • Cake Bakes

  • Other team competitions and themed days

In addition, House Points are awarded for:

  • Excellent effort and achievement in class

  • Kindness and positive behaviour around school.

House Points are collected throughout the week, and the totals are announced in our Friday assembly, with the winning House celebrated for their achievements.

The House system is an integral part of life at Thorner, encouraging children to work together, support one another, and take pride in their school community.
